Problems with Authority: How Hypnosis can be Helpful

Many of us may be able to relate to having problems and issues with authority. At the same time, we come across authority figures in all areas of life be it at work, within communities and groups or even in one’s own family!

Though we can all understand that experiencing some friction with authority figures is quite normal, there are instances where the same can be downright counterproductive. For this reason, it is important to learn how to conductively navigate our relationships with authority figure, ensuring that we don’t get in our own way.

Struggles with Authority and How Hypnosis Helps

There might be a number of reasons why some of us struggle with authority figures more than others. In many instances this can be more about us than it is about the authority or authority figures being questioned or challenged. Here are some personal reasons that result in problems with authority.

Negative Association

One of the biggest causes of problems with authority in certain individuals is negative association. Here’s how it works. We all grow up with authority figures. These include parents, grandparents, older relatives, older siblings, school teachers etc.

Where some of us have the privilege of being blessed with stable, balanced and more positive authority figures, others might not be so lucky. If a child experiences repeated encounters with various negative, aggressive or abusive authority figures, that is the subconscious impression that is then formed regarding the same.

As a result, even in future encounters, the individual perceives authority and figures exercising that authority as negative and unpleasant. The resulting behavior might be resistance, being hypersensitive and even being unable to function optimally in some cases.

Aversion to Control/PTSD and CPTSD

Some of us are averse to authority and control because we have suffered the worst of it at some point in our lives. This situation is akin to negative associations except a lot more intense.

If you’re someone who has been abused, went to a particularly unpleasant orphanage or boarding home when you were young or had to deal with a neurotic and angry parent, you might suffer from such an aversion.

Again, this can make navigating the day to day, your educational and professional life in particular extremely exhausting. You may also self sabotage just to remove yourself from the dynamic where you are the one upon whom another is exercising their authority.

Force of Habit and Self Image

Finally, there are times when you might struggle with authority figures for quite the opposite reason. In such cases, individuals who may be used to having their way might find it hard to be told what to do and how to do it.

Alternatively, you might have a set image of yourself subconsciously as a rebel or wildcard that you validate with your behavior.

In any case, if you’re in the habit of doing your own thing, your standard response may be not to listen or follow instruction. If you find you’re doing this even when it doesn’t serve you or in situations where it does you damage socially or professionally, you may have a problem!

Why Hypnosis is Effective

One of the things you may have noticed about all the causes for problems with authority elaborated upon above is that they relate to deep rooted subconscious ideas and processes. As you may already know, when it comes to working directly with the subconscious mind, hypnosis is a powerful tool.

Even in situations where other forms of therapy might fall short or prove to be inadequate, hypnosis can be quite effective.

A hypnotist will help clients connect with and rewire a particular part of their subconscious. Whether the end result is re-associating or breaking a bad habit, hypnosis is extremely potent both ways.
