According to one article posted by the online publication Psychology Today, low self-esteem could be something that occurs for a number of reasons. Among other things, these relate to absent or unstable authority figures as well as bullying and humiliation during childhood.
In one’s later years, such unfortunate situations may at times manifest as low self-esteem. So what exactly is the trouble with low self-esteem?
You Can Be So Much Better
One of the biggest problems with low self-esteem is that it prevents you from trying new things, putting yourself out there and having positive experiences. You might not apply for a job you’d be great at. You might decide not to approach someone who you may have gotten along really well with just because you think you’re not worth their attention. You might even miss out on the chance to improve on yourself by learning something new because you feel there isn’t any point.
Needless to say, low self-esteem can be a real ball and chain when it comes to living and experience – even worse, it’s not something easily shaken! So how does one stop getting in their own way?
Knowing that you ARE Enough
Anyone who has struggled with low self-esteem is probably well-aware that it is not something that you can wish or even reason away. You might have been in talk therapy and might have tried to work on it, but if you’re still struggling don’t give up hope.
