Can Hypnosis Help with Weight Loss?

According to one survey, the most common New Year’s resolution made by US adults in 2018 was to lose weight. In one such study, 60 participants with obstructive sleep apnea were divided into two groups.  One group was provided hypnosis treatment, whereas the other was given a simple diet plan. Participants from both groups lost up to 3% of body weight after 3 months. In an 18-month follow-up, however, it was revealed that individuals from the hypnosis group had further shed 8 pounds on average.

Another study found that individuals who had undergone hypnosis combined with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) especially for weight loss had a reduction in their body weight in contrast with the placebo group.

Should Hypnosis Be Used In Isolation for Weight Loss?

It’s recommended that alongside hypnosis, you also follow another weight loss strategy that works well with this. This can include behavioral treatment, exercise programs, dietary recommendations, and other weight management programs. A combination of these therapies delivers the best results.
