Have you been feeling like you can’t seem to calm down – however, you don’t necessarily feel scared? This could be both anxiety and intuition. There’s a fine line between the two, and people often mistake one for another. Many people experience anxiety attacks, and their minds are filled with several aspects of their current situations, and they might label it intuition.
Similarly, the feeling of intuition could make you feel like you’re anxious about what you’re about to do. If you experience these feelings and don’t necessarily know how to differentiate between the two, we can help you out.
We have put together some major differences between intuition and anxiety to help you understand the sensations you are really feeling. Let’s begin!
Anxiety Is a Reaction to Threat
With your stomach dropping, excessive sweat rolling down your forehead, and palpitations— you can experience the worse form of anxiety. It usually gets triggered in an unusual or threatening situation, where your body tries to react in mysterious ways out of fear of danger.
Getting involved in unknown and uncanny situations can make you doubt everything that might happen and give you severe bouts of anxiety. However, intuitions occur when a person is trying to choose between more than one thing. Intuitions help you point toward one direction and give you a chance to decide something based on your gut feeling.
The Intensity
While anxiety can be intense and even cause you to lose sense of reality—intuition comes with a fairly calm and relaxed atmosphere once you have made a decision. The intensity of both these feelings can help you decide which one you are experiencing at one point. If what you feel is more intense, you are experiencing anxiety. However, if the feelings are subtle, your gut is trying to tell you something!
Present vs Future
While intuitions focus mainly on the situation at hand, anxiety can make you worry about the future. It keeps you up and unrested about what might or might not happen in the future. However, intuitions will only focus on what you should do in the here and now.
