According to Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 4.5 million children – aged 5 till 17 – have been diagnosed with ADHD in the United States. While the exact reason why this condition occurs in some individuals isn’t yet known, research is being conducted to find effective treatments to reduce ADHD symptoms.
What Is ADHD?
ADHD or Attention-deficit/hyperactivity is a brain disorder. It shows ongoing patterns of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity in the sufferer which in turn hampers proper functioning and development. While researchers haven’t yet been able to find the exact cause, studies done on this subject point to genetics.
Hypnosis which is a natural method of treatment for anxiety and sleep deprivation can also possibly cure people suffering from ADHD.
Symptoms of ADHD
Symptoms of ADHD are categorized into two sets of behavioral problems, which are;
- Inattentiveness
- Impulsiveness and hyperactivity
Symptoms of ADHD often fall into both the categories, but this isn’t the case in most people. People suffering from this condition may show inattentiveness but not hyperactivity or impulsiveness. Psychologists call this form of ADHD as attention deficit disorder (ADD) which often goes unnoticed as the symptoms aren’t that obvious in people.
Resulting Mental Disorders Due To ADHD
There’s a direct link between ADHD (in adults) and several related mental conditions, one of which is depression. Adults may also show signs of the following conditions, alongside ADHD;
Personality Disorders: When the individual differentiates significantly from an average person when it comes to thoughts, feelings and how they relate/perceive other people and situations, that individual suffers from a personality disorder.
Bipolar Disorder: This mental condition affects the mood of sufferers, i.e. it can bring drastic changes from one extreme (happiness) to another (sadness).
Obsessive– compulsive Disorder (OCD): This condition causes the sufferer to think obsessive thoughts and act on those thoughts which lead to compulsive behavior.
Individuals suffering from this disorder can also show behavioral problems such as difficulties in social interaction, relationships etc and dependence on drugs.
Can Hypnosis Really Treat ADHD?
While there’s little scientific evidence that supports the effective treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or at least its symptoms (inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity), hypnosis should be considered for relieving anxiety and sleep deprivation.
In fact, many ADHD sufferers have found relief from stress and anxiety as well as other less extreme symptoms from hypnosis. Get a free consultation from certified hypnotist, Rekha Shrivastava and find out how.
